Starting the gym can seem complicated. Your first goal is not to try every machine, but to learn basic movement safely.
Weekly frequency
Two or three full-body sessions per week are enough for beginners. Leaving at least one rest day between sessions supports recovery.
Exercise selection
Use a simple routine with a squat pattern, push, pull, hip hinge and core exercise. You do not need many exercises for every muscle.
Choosing weight
Select a load that leaves several controlled repetitions in reserve. Focus on technique rather than training to failure during the first weeks.
Sets and repetitions
Two or three sets of 8-12 repetitions per movement is a practical starting point. Count warm-up sets separately.
Keep records
Write down loads, repetitions and how the session felt. Small, regular increases create meaningful long-term progress.
Be patient
Some muscle soreness is common at first. Stop and seek professional advice if pain is sharp or severe.

Plan the first month realistically
The first-month goal is consistency, not exhaustion. Two or three weekly visits, learning basic movements and keeping a training log create a strong starting point.
- Make warm-up and cool-down part of the plan.
- Record load, repetitions, duration or energy levels.
- Stop rather than forcing a movement that causes sharp pain.
How can you track progress?
Review progress every two to four weeks under similar conditions. Look beyond body weight and consider technique, training loads, energy levels and consistency. The overall trend is more useful than one unusually good or bad day.
